Kate Hilbig moved to Ottawa in 1998 from a small town in southwestern Ontario to pursue her goal of becoming a criminal defence lawyer. Kate worked her way through university as a cashier and part-time manager at a local grocery store and as a law student at a criminal defence firm. She graduated from Carleton University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts (Law) with a minor in History. She attended law school at the University of Ottawa where she was a member and then president of the Criminal Law Students' Association (2005-06). She was also a fixture at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic where she was a caseworker in the Criminal Division for two years (2004-05 and 2005-06). Kate graduated from law school in 2006 and was called to the Bar in 2007. Kate is also a member of BNI (Business Network International), Ventures Chapter, since 2010. When not in court or in the office, Kate enjoys keeping active playing basketball, soccer and softball and is an avid Ottawa Senators fan.
