Mission Statement

In a criminal trial, the prosecution often has unlimited resources. An accused person facing a criminal charge is going up against a professional group of lawyers from the Crown Attorney's Office, who are backed by the full resources of the police force. Acting as defence counsel means taking on the challenge of leveling the playing field, to ensure that every accused person receives a fair trial.

To offer every client the best defence requires a keen understanding of the rules of evidence, the legal principles that apply to their case, and the respect of the other players in the system, from the police to the prosecutor to the judges. But most of all, it requires a willingness to work hard, to learn the case inside and out, to prepare an effective defence strategy, so that the prosecution case can be effectively challenged at trial.

Although courtroom advocacy requires a certain skill, as well as the ability to think on one's feet and to remain cool under pressure, trial preparation requires many hours of work before the case ever reaches the courtroom. At our firm, we are committed to working long and hard on each and every case, to give every client the best defence.
