Stuart Konyer has practiced criminal defence law since his call to the bar in 1997.
He holds an Honours degree in English, and graduated magna cum laude from the faculty
of law at the University of Ottawa in 1995. His interest in criminal can be traced
back to his work at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic while he was a
law student.
Stuart formed the firm of May & Konyer with Sean May in 1999. The firm has established
a reputation for diligence and skilled advocacy amongst Judges at all levels, both in
Ottawa and throughout Eastern Ontario.
Stuart has been very involved over the years with the Defence Counsel Association of
Ottawa, a professional organization dedicated to promoting the interests of the defence
bar, where he currently sits as Vice President. He has lectured on criminal procedure
at the bar admission course, and to law students at the university of Ottawa. He has
been involved in providing ongoing legal education to lawyers, Judges and Justices of
the Peace.
In his off hours, Stuart enjoys reading as well as playing and coaching soccer.
